These birds are omnivorous and in the wild they feed on grains, corn, seeds, berries, fruits, vegetables, and insects (grasshoppers, crickets, larvae, and caterpillars.) They will also eat mice, arthropods, mollusks, lizards, vipers, slugs, and snails. Some birds have been found choked from swallowing field mice.
